The Picture of Dorian Gray is the only novel written by poet, playwright, and would-be social media influencer Oscar Wilde. Gray has it all: love in its many forms, murder most foul, witty repartee, high style, sordid opium dens. At the center of the action, the stunningly handsome main character–the eponymous Dorian Gray–makes a Faustian bargain that turns out to be not such a great deal.

Wilde’s novel is loaded with his signature bon mots (fun!) and waay too much blather about art for art’s sake–so much less fun. One thing’s for certain, if you’re feeling bad about your aging appearance, this book will make you feel a whole lot better.

The Classics Slacker series was created by Cristina Negrón, who holds a bachelor’s degree in literature and a master’s degree in creative writing. Negrón now writes it with two coauthors–the wildly witty and tremendously talented Deb Martin and Heidi Mastrogiovanni. Illustrated by artist extraordinaire Kris Wraight.
